Press Kit

Welcome to my Press Kit!

This page is here to make life easy for event organizers, bookstores, librarians, educators, and journalists who need quick, reliable information about me and my books — without having to dig, guess, or send smoke signals.

Below you’ll find everything you need to get started, including author information, book details, images, and other helpful resources. Whether you’re planning an event, writing an article, scheduling a visit, or just gathering background information, it’s all right here and ready to use.

If you need something that isn’t included, or you have a question that definitely can’t wait, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to help — and I promise I’m much easier to reach than my characters.

Biography

Mark Gunning began his career as an elementary school teacher in 1996, dedicating most of his time to junior grades. His passion for education and storytelling led him to write books aimed at engaging reluctant readers with his unique blend of humor and adventure. His efforts were quickly recognized when the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) awarded him the 2018 Children’s Literature Award for his debut book, I Told You So! The Adventures of William and Thomas.

Since retiring from teaching in June of 2024, Mark has focused on writing full-time and is available for author visits to schools, where he continues to inspire young readers with his stories.

Mark lives in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with his wife and three children. When he’s not writing, he enjoys playing guitar, attending concerts, hiking in the Niagara Gorge, golfing, playing slo-pitch, and watching sports. (Go Leafs!) Growing up in the small, close-knit community of Chippawa, Ontario, Mark draws much of his inspiration from his childhood adventures with friends—many of which find their way into his books.

Mark is currently working on the fifth installment of the I Told You So series and has several exciting projects in development. Among them is a brand-new Itchygooney Mysteries series, where William and Thomas dive into spooky local legends and unravel neighbourhood secrets. The first book in the series has already dropped on July 1st, 2025!

Other Appearances & Opportunities

I’m always happy to say yes to book signings, public appearances, school and library events, bookstore visits, and the occasional friendly radio or podcast chat. If it involves books, reading, storytelling, or encouraging kids to love stories just a little bit more, I’m in.

I enjoy connecting with readers, answering questions, talking about writing, and sharing how stories come to life — whether that’s in front of a room full of students, behind a microphone, or at a table surrounded by books and smiling faces.

If you have an idea, an event, or a microphone with my name on it, feel free to reach out. I’m flexible, approachable, and only mildly nervous in new situations. (Totally normal.)
